I never let you run through my mind
For too long
In hopes that the thought of you
Doesn’t jog memories
Of what we could have been

He would circle around
Ride the block
I’d sit at home with writers block
Different intentions
But we were both trying to catch a sentence

We live life like it’s a puzzle
Our minds will never be at ease
Until we find our missing piece
At times we will get desperate
Thinking we will never fit
But don’t you cry, or pout, or groan,
Your a masterpiece all on your own

The struggles of this life,
Will cut you deeper than a knife,
But you hold your scars within,
In hopes they’ll never see the light,
Wear your heart upon your sleeve,
So that everyone can see,
You are human like the rest of us,
Everybody bleeds

A change of seasons
A change of feelings
I prefer the latter…

Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete,
Me neither, the whole concept seems absurd and beyond me,
You mean to tell me that it flourished regardless of its subpar conditions,
In an environment that was already broken down and diminished,
Using the little that it had to make the greatest in difference,
And managed to still shine a light on all those in its presence,
I have never heard of such a thing, but to believe is to see,
Blind to my own influence I failed to realize that the rose
Could be me….

Young woman you are bright and beautiful,
So it’s only right you shoot for stars,
Instead of settling for a brother who caught you at a hookah bar

I see your smile through the dark tints of my window
As you bounce my way not missing a beat
I try to smile back unaware you can’t see me
My heart fills with joy as you join me in the passenger seat
Seat warmer on but your smiles much warmer
I try to contain myself as I shuffle my feet
And finally find the gas pedal and step down ever so lightly
As we embark on another journey down green st

I love you,
A phrase that is all but native to our tongues,
A translation of a full heart that beats just like a drum
I love you,
Just as the sun favours the sky,
I favour you, in hopes that one day we can shine as bright
I love you,
More today than yesterday, and maybe even more tomorrow,
You are a life preserver in my sea of troubles,
When I’m drowning in my sorrows
I love you,
Which I say a lot, but I mean it every single time,
And every time I’m even more grateful that I can call you mine
I love you
And even now as I read this on my own,
My only will is to share myself with you, and you alone
I love you
Sometimes even more than I love myself,
I’m glad you stayed,
I can’t share this feeling with anybody else
I love you
Every single day I’m breathing, and even after that
My love for you is everlasting,
I’m glad to have you back
I love you

We find ourselves in constant battle, with only hopes of winning it
Caught between a crossroads of plight and privilege
The latter kicked out from under us, so we have no leverage
But even with our blood spilled, we will not allow this wound to hemorrhage
